Community Calendar Guidelines

This calendar is managed by the Summerland Cultural Coalition. Anyone is welcome to post to this calendar, but all submissions will be reviewed before they appear on the calendar, to be sure they fit the following criteria:

  • The Community Calendar promotes educational, social, cultural, or recreational events in Summerland.
  • All events posted must happen in Summerland, be open to the general public, and announce only one-time or special events for programs of general interest to the community, not regularly scheduled or private activities (i.e., church services, exercise classes, garage sales, etc.)
  • The calendar will not generally post events that promote a commercial activity or specific religious or political activity or belief, but the calendar is open to an event posted by a commercial, religious or political entity that is of an arts or cultural nature and is open to the public, e.g. a church that hosts a concert of Christmas music, an arts workshop provided by a store, an all-candidates meeting before an election, etc.

Acceptable Postings

  • Local community activities like concerts, gallery openings, summer camps, sporting events
  • Fundraisers for non-profit agencies, schools, social service or other organizations
  • Informational seminars, clinics or meetings

Unacceptable Postings

Submissions with:

  • Profane language or content
  • Sexual content
  • Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination
  • Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
  • Information that could compromise the safety or security of the public

The calendar manager can limit the number of postings from any one organization and can reject any posting if it is deemed to be offensive, inappropriate or not in the public’s interest.

The Coalition does not endorse or verify the information included in any link, and does not guarantee the authenticity, accuracy, appropriateness nor security of the link, website or content linked to it.
