Come to the Arts and Culture Centre on Wharton Street and see what’s going on! The Centre has a gift shop with beautiful, original local art, and an art gallery with a changing showcase of local artists. There’s a gala opening for a new show every 6 weeks.
The Centre is well known for its excellent Friday Night Live music nights throughout fall, winter and spring. Enjoy some music and a glass of wine! And in summer, bring a picnic to Wednesdays in the Park, featuring musicians from Summerland and around the Okanagan.
As well, the Arts Centre is alive with summer arts camps for children, workshops for all ages throughout the year, and on weekdays you can often watch member groups as they practise their various arts in a sociable setting.
The Summerland Arts and Culture Centre is managed by the District of Summerland in partnership with the Summerland Community Arts Council, a volunteer-led organization dedicated to promoting and supporting creative pursuits for the people of Summerland. The Arts Council is an umbrella organization for the arts, providing a resource centre, clearing house, information hub and advocacy for all those pursuing the arts in our community.
We have 16 member groups, 6 individual member studios, 12 honorary lifetime members, and another 103 individual members.
We envision a world where everyone is empowered to express their innate creativity. Our goal is to provide support, classes, connections and venues that further our community’s creative journeys.
